The Whistler XTR-185 is a unique rechargeable cordless radar detector. It is equipped with a solar panel which assists in charging the battery, which means that you can expect slightly better battery life than with similar models (estimated 17 hour battery life). In case the solar panel isn't enough, the XTR-185 has a built-in charger, which lets you charge the batteries by plugging into a normal 12 volt plug.

The Whistler XTR-185 will detect POP mode radar and it supports 3 city modes to help eliminate false alerts. The icon display is bright and easy to read, and can be dimmed or turned off entirely. The XTR-185 is also equipped with a selectable auto shut off feature, which can prevent dead batteries.

The Whistler XTR-185 responds to all types of radar currently in use by police, and provides 360 degree detection of all types of laser guns laser. The Whistler XTR-185 is immune to the VG-2 detector, and provides alerts when VG-2 is in use. Support for Whistler's Stay Alert feature is included as well.
