The Whistler XTR-690’s performance is legendary and we are pleased to announce that we have a limited number available for a very low price! According to the manufacturer, the XTR-690 will deliver performance very similar to that of a high performance Bel or Escort model - at less than half the price!
The XTR-690 also offers all of the features you would expect in a high performance detector. It will detect POP mode radar and provides Whistler's Real Voice™ alerts. The XTR-690 provides a blue back-lit text display, identical to the display on other high end XTR series models. A digital compass is also provided.
The Whistler XTR-690 also delivers several features that are new to Whistler (other than the Bel/Escort-like performance). These are: a "periscope" alert LED on the top of the unit, opposite the "laser eye", a battery voltage meter, and true VG-2 immunity. Other Whistler detectors employ "VG-2 cloaking", in which the detector shuts itself down when it detects the VG-2.

Very sensetive to temperature
Every thing ok, but if outside cold when you start drive at morning radar start beep about 10 min without stop. So, you have to take radar to home every evening.

We use the radar detector when travelling on the highway for long distances.
Great Product fot the Price
I like the look and the performance of this Whistler detector. The compass is quite accurate and I really appreciate the longitudinal read outs. Cobalt blue screen is attractive, especially at night. I'd say it's reliable and reasonably easy to use.

Looks cool, sounds good but just way too much false alarms...very good price but I will go with a better quality radar detector. Broke on me 8 months later for no reason. I liked it...for about 3 months and then it got very annoying.
Darned Good Inexpensive Detector
I use this detector in my pick-up and on my motorcycle. The two LED lights on top are great, since it's hard to hear the alert when riding. The only thing I'd like to see would be an earphone outlet, so I could connect it to my helmet. Would I buy this item again? Yes!!
