The Whistler XTR-445 radar detector is a full featured battery powered radar detector. Now you can have all of the great features of a classic corded Whistler radar detector in a cordless model.
The Whistler XTR-445 radar detector is equipped with a new and improved red OLED text display for better brightness, color and contrast, over previous Whistler models in its class. The XTR-445 also includes Whistler's popular dual LED alert periscope.
The Whistler XTR-445 offers Total Band Protection and 360° Maxx Coverage from front, sides and rear. The XTR 445 features 3 city modes to help reduce false alerts and an Alert Priority feature makes sure the most important alert is displayed if multiple alerts are detected. Other features include two filter modes, Whistler's exclusive Stay Alert, Traffic Flow Signal Rejection (TFSR), selectable tone alerts, a battery saver, and Auto Quiet mode.
A key feature of the Whistler XTR-445 is the built-in battery charger. It recharges the NiMH batteries in the radar detector when plugged into a 12V socket.
The Whistler XTR-445 comes with 3 AA rechargeable batteries, windshield bracket kit, power cord, owner's manual and a one year manufacturer warranty.

Batteries are an advantage review by Herb on 8/2/2013I purchased the battery version to use in my convertible. When the top is down, I can move the radar from the dashboard to the storage compartment. This prevents theft of the radar. A major improvement would be a nonslip material on the bottom of the radar so it doesn't slide around on the dashboard. Better and longer battery life would also help.

The product will not turn on if not plugged into the lighter. I bought this model for the cordless feature but so far it doesn't operate as a cordless.
