I have own 2 for 2-years and this products works great . I am in residential sales and travel over 50,000 miles a year in Md.- DC - And VA. the states that have the most camera's, cops, red light camers and laser in the nation. GPS is average but always takes from point A to point B. I get updates every week. I program my GPS in the moring to go to 5 to 8 stops and it does its job.
I've had my IQ for about 6 months now and have finally decided it's about useless if you travel very far. It's fine if all you want is routing to a destination you can put in by address, but there it ends. There's no way to simply select a map location as a destination other than your current GPS location. This mean you have to know an address streets or pick a POI. Searching POIs (Points of Interest) is a real problem. It seems to search only within one city or locality at a time. If you're close to the edge of one, it may not find things that are close to you that are in the next city or town. If you search, you have to know what city or town name you want. You also can't say, find things along my route. As such, it's impossible to look for good hotels up the road or even find out how far to the next gas station. If you want a good radar detector, Escort has them, but this combo detector/GPS is a looser on the GPS navigation side. The better product to get from Escort is one of their high-end detectors with ESCORT Live and use your Android phone for navigation.
the gps is a terrible joke compared to garmin or even tom tom. the radar detection is great and it has saved me by locking out a laser signal.
Radar is excellent as you would expect from Escort. GPS is horrible!! Escort should license or work with Garmin to develop next generation of this combo. As a road warrior for work, i will stick with my Garmin and use my Escort seperately. Great concept combining both, hopefully next gen. will be better.
GPS very disappointing.
