The Cobra XRS-9550G radar detector features Cobra's Xtreme Range Superheterodyne™ Technology, which provides longer detection range than many previous Cobra models. The Cobra XRS 9550G radar detector is also GPS enabled camera warning system. Through the use of GPS and Cobra’s AURA™ database (free subscription to the AURA™ database service included) you will be warned of speed and red light cameras. The AURA™ database is maintained by Cobra, and can be downloaded online. You can also mark up to 1,000 locations manually.

The XRS-9550G comes with Cobra’s popular IntelliMute™ feature which will automatically mute the detector based on your speed. This model will also detect POP radar, and even has built-in support for the Ku band which is currently used in Europe.

The Cobra XRS 9550G radar detector has voice alerts, DigiView® Data Display, includes a built-in 8 point electronic compass. The Cobra XRS-9550G is immune to the VG-2 radar detector detector and Spectre I, and provides alerts when VG-2 and Spectre I/IV is in use.

The XRS-9550G also provides detailed messages from Cobra's exclusive Safety Alert® and Strobe Alert warning systems. Cobra's Strobe Alert will alert motorists to over 50,000 emergency vehicles equipped with strobe transmitters that activate red lights at traffic intersections in emergency high speed situations.
