General Radar Detector Questions
Are radar detectors legal in my state? Radar detectors are currently illegal in
passenger vehicles in Virginia and Washington, DC. There is a federal law banning use of radar detectors
in any commercial vehicle over 10,000 pounds. Radar detectors are also illegal on any military base.
What kind of range do the models you carry get? Range varies widely based on the
quality of the model you buy and the conditions on the road at the time you are driving. In general,
just like with most everything, the more money you spend the better quality detector you will get and
the better range you will receive. We encourage our customers to read radar detector reviews, or
contact us with specific questions regarding
product performance.
Will a radar detector detect an upcoming speed camera or photo camera? It depends.
Photo enforcement devices, such as speed or red light cameras, cannot be counted on to emit a radar signal
detectable by most radar detectors. However some newer radar detectors, such as the
Escort 9500ix or the
Cobra XRS-R9G, have a GPS
and a database of camera locations and can provide alerts. Our
photo radar
section offers includes other products that specifically protect against these types of threats.
What frequency ranges do the radar detectors that you carry detect? All radar
detector models that we carry will detect the following frequency ranges:
X-band: 10.525 GHz +/- 25 MHz
K-band: 24.150 GHz +/- 100 MHz
Ka-Band: 34.700 GHz +/- 1300 MHz
Laser: 904nm, 33 MHz bandwidth
Some models that we carry, such as the
Bel 995 and the
Bel RX65,
will also detect the Ku band. The following is the Ku band range:
Ku-Band: 13.400 GHz +/- 25 MHz
Do you offer discounted pricing for quantity purchases? Yes. We offer quantity
discounts to customers purchasing 5 or more units. Contact us
prior to ordering in order to receive the discount. Sorry, due to manufacturer restrictions, we can
not provide discounts on Bel Pro series or Escort products.
Where can I find a manual for my product? Check our
product manuals
page. We have manuals for most current and many discontinued radar detectors.
How do I send a product in for repair under warranty? Warranty repairs need to
be handled directly through the product manufacturer, with the exception of a couple of brands that
we warranty ourselves. We keep a database of all manufacturers contact info and would gladly
provide it to you if you are having trouble tracking it down. Simply
contact us with your request.
International Radar Detector Questions
Are radar detectors legal in my country? Unfortunately we do not have the answer
to this question. We have shipped successfully too many different countries. In many countries these
products are legal to own but are illegal to use. This ultimately leaves it up to you as the customer
to know the laws and restriction of your country.
We currently will not attempt shipment at all to following countries: Portugal, Turkey, Yugoslavia,
Croatia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Iran.
Which radar detector would you recommend for international use? It is not possible
to answer this question without knowing which bands of radar police use in your country. We have found
that in an overwhelming majority of countries, police use the same radar bands as in the United States.
If this is the case in your country, you can choose from any detector that we sell.
In rare cases, we have found that in some areas police use the Ku radar band, or a different portion of
the Ka band. These frequencies are not used in the United States at this time, and are best detected by
the Beltronics 995 radar detector.
Do you offer a guaranteed delivery time for international orders? No. We only offer
an estimated delivery date. Unfortunately we have no control over how long customs may take to process
and clear your package for delivery.
Customs will not allow me to import this product. Can I get a refund? No. It is
your responsibility prior to placing an order with us to know and understand the laws of your country.
If radar detectors are illegal to import into your country then do not place the order. Any package
confiscated by customs will be abandoned by us and you will not receive a refund. For more information,
refer to our International Orders page.
I have received my radar detector and it was confiscated by the police. Can I get a refund?
No. It is your responsibility prior to placing an order with us to know and understand the laws of your
country. We are not responsible for your confiscated detector, nor are we in any way responsible for any
other fine or punishment that you may incur. For more information, refer to our
International Orders page.
What delivery service do you use for international shipments? All international
shipments are shipped using one of the following major carriers: UPS, Fedex, or USPS Global Express mail.
The courier is chosen based upon cost and prior service received shipping to your country. It is our goal
to make all international deliveries quick and cost effective to our customers. For more information,
refer to our International Orders page.
Can you ship the anti-photo sprays internationally? No. These products are considered
to be flammable, which means they are considered hazardous materials and cannot be shipped by air. We also
do not currently offer any kind of ocean freight service.
