Whistler Hardwire Kit Instructions

The power cable has a plug on one end which connects to the detector. At the other end of the power cable, the power and ground wires are separated. The ground wire has a “U” shaped connector which should be fastened to a metal surface. Look for an existing screw or bolt under the dash to use a grounding point. The power wire has a spade type connection which should be connected to a switched +12 volt DC circuit in your vehicle’s fuse box. A switched circuit is one that has power when your vehicles is on, but has no power when your vehicle is off. Connect the “U” type power to the ground point selected. Attach the power cord to the detector. Then touch the power wire to the +12 volt DC switched power source selected. If the detector sounds the self test sequence, then all connections are correct.

  2. PERFECT PRODUCT FOR STEALTH INSTALLATIONS! review by Vic D. on 8/17/2015

This hardwire kit was exactly what I've been looking for to do a radar detector "stealth" installation in my SUV. The 10-foot length is way more than adequate for any large vehicle install and the built-in inline fuse is a plus and one less thing to have to add on your own. The plug fits the Whistler radar detector perfectly without any loose connections, a problem I had when I tried to make my own wire harness with a plug I bought from an electronics store. I'll be buying more of these hardwire kits for my other vehicles. Just what the radar detector doctor ordered!

Great buy. My cig lighter shorted out and this kit quickly easily and efficiently solved that problem and at the same time trhe length of the wire gave me wide latitude over where I could place my detector. Turns out this hard wire kit can also be used for my Cobra detector though the input jack is longer than the Cobra's.

  9. Worked as expected review by Harley on 11/8/2010

I had to do a bit of disassembly of my bike to get the routing correct, but that is expected. Also contained it in a wire path to protect it from engine heat. Has worked fine for several months now and the detector has saved me many times, especially on my trip to California.
